does your race matter in admissions? can people explain how being a URM affects admissions into schools? is it a concrete fact that URM have a better chance of getting into schools or is it just a myth? can someone explain affirmative action? anyone have any links to sites that show facts that support that race really does matter in admissions?

You busta....

huh? you busta?

first, I have to ask this question, are you asian? If you are then your chances of fitting within the URM catagory will diminish, and in fact, if you state that you are of asian origin/ethnicity, colleges will usually hold a higher standard that's against your admissions.

that's not why im asking the question. we're having a debate and i wanna know the truth backed by facts. i've already been accepted into college and i'm not worrying about any of that now. this is just out of curiosity.

Yes, colleges do cut URMs quite a bit of slack.

then the answer is it does matter to a certain extent (but not to the point where it will affect your entire admission)
