Hi all,
I’m currently a freshman in LSA & I applied to Ross. My current GPA is a 3.59, but I took a pass/fail course first semester and received an A-. Does anyone know if Ross recalculates your GPA with pass/fail courses because if they do, my GPA will be boosted to a 3.61 (not much of a difference but still significant)?
Thanks!
@sdtrumpetman If someone knows for sure, then my comment is irrelevant, but I highly doubt they would since what shows up on your transcript is the P/F.
@hailbate thanks for your response! I ask because I know for a fact that Ross does look at the grade you receive in pass/fail classes, regardless of the fact that the only thing that appears on the transcript is a P/F. Since they do look at the grade received in the course I want to know if they recalculate that grade into your current GPA…
No.
For non-mandatory credit/no credit, they have access to your grade if I am not mistaken.
@Wolverine19 source?

Google is your friend, good luck with admissions
Yes it is:
Keep mandatory credit/no credit courses to a minimum. In the case of optional pass/fail courses, we have access to the actual letter grade you earned and will consider that.

@Wolverine19 you are right that pass/fail courses are not (permanently) factored into my GPA. However, as @wayneandgarth showed is that Ross will receive the grade I earned in my pass/fail course and (temporarily) take that into account, and will perhaps recalculate my GPA for admissions purposes only. Also @wayneandgarth I only took an optional pass/fail course because it was an upper level course that I was interested in, but wasn’t exactly sure how well I would do in it. Long story short, I took it pass/fail, did very well in it (A-), and hopefully Ross recognizes that.
Your transcript most likely won’t look too much different than your Wolverine Access grade since its an internal application. It should say Pass and your grade next too. They probably won’t manually recalculate the grade, but they’ll at least see the A-, it won’t look as good if it wasn’t P/F regardless of the grade. But that’s your fault anyways : /
Yes, Ross does have access to the actual letter grade submitted by your professor. Whether or not they recalculate the GPA in your application, I don’t know. However, they will take that grade into consideration.
