<p>I am writing from Brazil and would like to know whether spending my senior year in a foreign country will help my chances to be accepted to Stanford.
My own opinion is yes, it should help.
The positives are: learning a different language, new culture, maturing as a person.
The negatives, at least for me, are: I will have done nothing slightly academic for an entire year (I attend school but don't do anything and have already taken the material), I had to rush my high school education taking regular Gov, English and Calc online or at the JC, all of which drop my overall weighted GPA.
So, what do you think?</p>
