My friend got accepted to Rutgers (in-state), but he seems to have a major case of senioritis...he took some really difficult courses, and his grades REALLY slipped. He has no A's except in gym, 3 B's, 4 C's, 1 D (a pity D...really a F), and 2F's.

Will those 2 F's be enough to rescind admission to Rutgers? The bad grades are in Physics AP and Calculus AP, and we go to a pretty tough public school in central New Jersey.

No, but does the location of the school even matter?

I just wanted to know if Rutgers actually rescinded acceptances, because I've warned him countless times that it might happen.

With F's it's definitely a possibility, I think. I think they care more about final grades, though, not midterm grades... so he should pick them up by the end of the year at least to D's.
I mean, of course there is the possibility that they won't do anything, but I would be cautious.

Yes, Rutgers does rescind acceptances. It happened to a friend of mine. I don't exactly know the details but I just know that he did poorly in his senior year. He had to go to another school for a year and then tranferred to Rutgers.

same here. a senior from my high school got his admission rescinded last year b/c he slacked off majorly towards the end of the yr so he goes to a diff college now and wants to transfer after freshman year

i got my acceptance to rutgers rescinded last year and am spending a year at community college. i dropped 3 classes pretty late into the year and got WF's - withdrawn failures. I went to rutgers to see what their rescindment criteria was and the head counseler said most of the time even 1 F as a final grade would be enough

Were these mid-term grades? Or were they for second marking period? If your school (as our school does) automatically send out midterm reports to all the schools that a student applied to, the D's will not look good at all. Some schools will just send out Final grades. I think that's all Rutgers asks for anyway. Check with your GC regarding ths.

yeah rutgers only wants final report so he/she can just pull up his final avg grade by june.

question:
if i got into rutgers pharm, and i got a scholarship, and i enroll in april-may, will they still rescind my acceptance if i let my grades drop? like lets say all C's for final grades but in all AP classes.

I'd say don't chance it. Why would you risk losing a scholarship or even losing your acceptance so you can slack off and have fun your senior year? Trust me, you'll be having plenty of fun in college. Just do the work and finish off the year with maybe all Bs, some As, a C here or there, but not all Cs. It's a slippery slope once you start slacking off.
