Does SAT Writing matter? Chance me PLZ and i will worship u

Georgia Tech is where I have always thought of going. You think I can get in? I am a rising senior with college constantly on my mind. I live in Georgia, and I am a white dude (not helping)

SAT:
Math - 740 (missed 2)
Reading - 600
Writing - 450 (Does this matter?), 8 essay

APs:
Junior-
AP Chemistry (99)
AP Chemistry, lab (96)
AP Computer Science A (97, 96)
Senoir-
AP Calc AB
AP Calc BC
AP Bio (two semesters like chem)
AP Physics

Other Core Classes:
Highest math and science classes: Honors Chem, Honors Bio, Honors Alg, Honors Alg II, Honors Geometry, Honors trig/adv alg (pre calc)

all regular lit and history FTW

Electives:
Mostly all computer classes (CTAE), lifetime sports, filmhistory, Spanish I and II

Grades:
All high As mostly, but i got an 89 in spanish II (don't get me started)
My GPA is definetly in the top 10 percent of if not the best public schools in the state (georgia though) it has highest sat scores in the state

EC's:
Beta club (did a tutoring program)

National Honors Society (step up from beta)

4 years varsity swim team 1 year of junior

Scolastic all american for USA swimming (3.5+ gpa and you go to sectionals meet, between state and nationals)

internship summer of junior year with IT guy at the University of Georgia

I will probably swim for gt but i want to get in on merit so i don't look like a jock or if i get injured

also my older brother went to georgia tech, and he was an alumni

It does matter. You should retake the SAT, since your reading score could also use some work (and especially since you would look weaker relative to other strong candidates with strong scores at your school). You look like a strong candidate otherwise. Best of luck!

i can’t retake anymore because i’m a junior and i’m tired of it. Whats wrong with reading collegeboard says 93% get 580-680 and my math is already on the high end (650-750). I’ve heard many times colleges never consider writing. UGA only looks at it to validate you wrote your essay. You think i can make it with those scores?

can’t probably isn’t the best word then.

you don’t get scores tell end october, and i think early applications are before that. so i can’t

I don’t know of a school that doesn’t take October scores. Most early programs even take November scores.

well what are my chances with 450

i can probably only get it to a 520, highest practice

its an engineering school why do the care about writing

Writing is an important skill in every field.

i’m a good enough writer my essay is an 8. I just not a grammar check program.

Grammar structures our language (including written communication). I’d be happy to email you my grammar guide for the SAT if you wish. I’ll be posting it on CC as part of my SAT and admissions guide soon.

i don’t wanna take it anymore

send me one i guess i’ll look at it

PM me your email address.

what should i shoot for in writing

In general, higher is better, so I can’t really answer that. Moreover, I am not very familiar with Georgia Tech’s admissions.

i hate you more and more each post but your just trying to help
