Does scoring 4s and 5s on 10+ AP make up for poor gpa?

I was wondering if I take alot of APs (10-15) and score 4s and 5s in them, can I make up for poor gpa (3.7uw, 4.4 w)? Of course the my rank will still be in the top 10%. what do you think. (note: my rank is top 5% and my uw gpa is 3.8, but I expect some Bs this years).

A "Poor" GPA is relative. Your GPA is fine for many schools; just not good enough for the ivys, unless you have fabulous ECs.

I should note that college admission reps note that all AP scores are irrelevant.

what if I take 12 APs and score 4s and 5s on them? actually, the gpa is for the worst possible case. My uw gpa is currently above that with 11 APs so far.

Also I've heard that rank>gpa. I am currently in top 1%. However, my question is if good scores in 10-12 AP make up for average gpa?

rank is more important than GPA

what about APs? 12 APs with 4s and 5s? There might be some APs where i get Bs but 5s on the exam. I am studying hard specifically for the exams.

Uh, how can you have an "average" GPA if you are top 1%? That completely defies the definition of average.

And no, having a lot of 4-5 APs wouldn't make up for an average GPA. It makes you look smart, but lazy.

4.4 is low?

Its low, condidering that I have 8 Bs and a C :C. However, I took so many AP classes that my rank is still in the top 1%.

If it take 12 AP exams and score 4 and 5s on them, will that make up for the grades? I expect my ecs to be great.

No, I already said, it won't make up for the grades. It'll just make you look lazy. How could you score a 5 on the AP if you could only muster a C in the class? The only logical explanation would be that were lazy in the class and didn't do as much as you were capable of.

You must have a bizarre GPA system. A 3.7UW with 8 Bs and a C? At my school, a 3.7 is an A- average.

At some schools 3.7 is in the high 80s and A- is a 4.0 unless I am mistaken
