Does Scripps look at only the composite for the ACT???

Hi, I took the ACT a couple times and I scored nearly perfect in one section on the ACT. I was wondering if they look only at the composite or if they look at the different sections too?

Just my hunch, but I would be very surprised if they only looked at the composite. They seemed to want to have as many data points as possible.

I'm pretty much going to copy my own answer from the "Does Scripps Superscore?" thread...

Scripps has something called the Academic Portal, which students can log into to view their grades, schedule, academic record, etc. It also shows standardized test scores from HS. When I log in, it displays only my my composite ACT (but my superscored SAT breakdown). Like ijfri, though, I would be very surprised if they didn't give any consideration to the breakdown (I believe that they'll have the numbers in the score report, regardless of whether the application asks you to give the breakdown or just the composite).

For definite info, try using the Scripps website's "Ask an admission counselor..." feature toward the bottom left of this page: Scripps College : Admission

Good luck finding what you're looking for, and congrats on the score :)

i hope they look at more than the composite because mine was only a 29 (got a 34 and 32 in math and reading) but was waaaay dragged down by my 24 (dont know how THAT happened) in the science section.

I agree! my science score brought down my total as well so I hope they look at the individual scores of the other sections. But I can't imagine that they would only look at the composite.

Same here...i got a 24 on the science section also.. :(

Is a composite score of 30 an average score to get into scripps or...like what is the average score of applicants?

I've never come across the website that gave me these numbers, but I'm pretty sure they're in line with what I've seen before:

Average ACT: 29 composite
Combined ACT middle 50% range: 27 - 31
Percent of accepted applicants who submitted ACT score: 34%

AICCUMentor - Select a School - Campus Tours - Scripps College

(According to the conversions I've seen, average reported SAT scores are higher, which supports the assumption that they superscore. Just another piece of evidence, though...still can't say for certain.)
