Does sending the Common App to one school also sends it to all other schools?

I’m applying to 6 schools through the Common App. I’m aware that the each application consists of two sections: a single common app section which all schools will see and individual questions for each school that only it will see (when submitted). My question is:

  • When I click ‘Submit’ for a school, are the applications for other schools I’ve listed also submitted all at once, or do I have the option of sending individual applications to their respective schools at different times?
  • [related to from the question above] When I submit an application to one school, say University A, is the common app questions section also submitted at the same time to all 5 other schools as well, or is the common app questions section submitted individually every time I submit my application to a particular school?

No.

No.

@T26E4 I presume your 'no.'s mean 1/ the applications are not all submitted at once, and 2/ the common app section is not submitted to all schools for each school that I submit it to individually. Thanks for the answers.

Sorry I wasn’t clear the first time. 1) The CA submissions are individual. You can submit for 2 schools today and 3 schools tomorrow. They go out when you hit submit to that particular school. Otherwise, that’d be a terrible platform.

  1. Colleges value their privacy too. Of course their app sections don’t go out to other schools. Otherwise, that’d be a terrible platform.
