I've just recently sent in my app to Pitt for the 2013 fall term. In December, I visited the campus and went on a tour, and had a personal appointment. Will admissions see this, or will it not be included? If they do look at it, how much weight is placed on interest? Is there anything else I can do now that I've sent in my application to improve my chances of getting in?

They will see that you interviewed/had a personal appointment. It has NO weight on admissions chances. (Source: http://www.ir.pitt.edu/cds/documents/CDS2010-11PittsburghCampus.pdf)

Your overall level of interest (whatever that means) is “considered”. (I.E. lowest level of part of application). That might be things like sending in supplemental material to at least knowing that Pitt is in Pennsylvania (slightly joking here).

Send in supplemental material if you haven’t yet (Teacher recs, essay, resume). The more material Pitt has on you, the more they know about you when making a decision!

I sent in an essay and resume, and my teacher recs will be sent in with my transcript. Is there any other supplemental I should send in, or would more be considered excessive?

Nope. You’re all set!

If by any chance you are deferred until January, i.e., they say they want to see first semester grades, then you’d want to send in more supplemental material highlighting any new accomplishments (such as hopefully really strong first quarter grades) and reiterating your strong interest.

I have a 3.4 UW GPA, 3.9 W, 1940 SAT, 31 ACT, leadership position/multiple EC’s…do you think there’s a chance of me getting deferred?

^No, but you seem to have done pretty much what you can to show interest. If you’re deferred, that would be a time you need to do it again (and when showing interest might make more of a difference).
