Does speciality play a big role for research universities/colleges?

There are many universities that are renown for their research (i.g. MIT, Stanford, UC’s, NYU, etc)
If I am applying to a university that is a research university with speciality and knowledge in my field, and upload research papers and books created by me and proclaimed by professors, does this play a big role in my admissions because it shows I can potentially further the name of the university’s research program?

I appreciate the help!

No. If you are still doing such amazing and unique work when you are ready for graduate school, they can choose you at that time.

I believe that admissions folks would find your work impressive and be more likely to accept you because of it. I , however, do not know if the reason they would think so is because you’d be furthering the name of the university.
