I'm wondering if I can drop my statistics class without it affecting my admission to SU. I have taken 3 years of mathematics which is enough to graduate, and I am not receiving any AP credit for the class. I am also going into graphic design where mathematics is not my main study.

Will SU revoke my admission if I withdraw from the class? Thank you!

Has anyone ever dropped a math course? I emailed them and their response is very vague, saying “That is a decision that must be made by you and your counselor.” I will be maintaining A’s and B’s in the rest of my classes.

Would they actually revoke my admission if I drop? “Your admission is contingent upon maintaining the same level of academic achievement as demonstrated in your application as well as graduation from secondary school. Your admission may be rescinded if you fail to meet these standards.”

I dropped the calculus class I was taking first semester and replaced it with ap American government. I applied before the change but was accepted after.

I’m interested in this as well. I’m doing terribly in my calculus class right now, and I’ve already taken 4 years of HS math so I don’t need it to graduate. There’s a very good chance that I’ll get a D this semester, so I’m wondering if dropping it would be a better option.

Are you sure? I know that some schools do. Florida State rescinds for a D, and I’m going to GW. If FSU rescinds for a D, I thought for sure Syracuse and GW would too.

I’ve called three times and also emailed, but am given the same vague answer each time. I just really don’t want to jeopardize my admission to SU but they’re not giving me a clear answer so I’m not sure what to do. But thanks for all the input! If anyone finds out more information or updates feel free to post!

I’m on the same boat as you OP. When I applied I was taking AP Physics. I dropped that class in late January and replaced it with nothing. I got my acceptance latter a few months later. They have no idea I dropped.

Hopefully nothing will happen if I decide to go, or else I’m f#$%ed.

I hope it’ll be okay tho. I have 3 other AP classes, and my gpa is still a solid 4.0

I’ve heard that rescinds are extremely rare for SU to give out, so I hope (???) we have nothing to worry about. You might want to call the office and inform them that you dropped AP Physics! Don’t want to take any chances.

I’m going to try to have my counselor call in for me and explain the situation…hopefully then I will receive a clear answer of my options!! :)

UPDATE! Had my counselor call in and they told her that as long as I send them an email saying my reasons for withdrawing and it doesn’t affect my graduation, it is fine. Hope this helps you out, linkmaster1! :)
