If I were to submit on, say, December 30-31 or Jan 1, would my application be looked at less favorably, or do they not start reading them until after the deadline?

It probably depends on the school, to my knowledge it won’t really hurt you.

If it is an electronic submission, you will be fine (either way really). Think about how many other people are submitting last minute (like me lol).

just make you submit your SAT scores at east a few days before the deadline…even though they are sent electronically the colleges sometimes don’t receive for a week or even 2 weeks if you send them like everyone else on the day before the deadline… good luck!!

will you chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1438077-chance-bc-nd-uva-umich-bu-wustl-please.html#post15254960

I would recommend to send it ASAP, because if you are sending it electronically, the system might go down or who knows. That’s my opinion, but being admitted, it won’t hurt your chance of admittance.

Supposedly they don’t start reading them until the deadline, in which case it won’t hurt your chances. If it’s rolling admissions though, it will significantly hurt your chances, because the longer you wait, the less spots are left.

No, but if you wait to push the button just minutes before midnight of the deadline your application might “hang” because the system may get overloaded with so many other procrastinators pushing at the same time. Then you’ll have to wonder if it went through or not. Do you want that additional anxiety?
