I realize that the deadline isn't until until November, but I've already submitted my application. I began writing the essays a week after they posted the topics, and reviewed them/revised them 4 or 5 times. I started the application online on August 26th, spoke with a teacher about being a reference, and submitted it fully completed three days ago. I've already sent my SAT scores from College Board, and printed out the counsellor form and given it to her to mail off. My question is, does submitting the application early help any at all? Or do they wait to start reading them until the deadline day? I'm instate if that matters

Simple answer: No

Detailed answer: UNC does not do rolling admissions. Applicants are considered as a part of the whole applicant pool from both deadlines (they have a pretty good idea of what the stats of the 2nd deadline will be like.) If they are not sure how you will stack up against 2nd deadline applicants, they defer you.

^Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

As far as I know, rolling admissions is the only process where it matters when you submitted your application.

Carolina Hopeful, good for you for getting it in early (wish my son had your motivation! :). They’re right though, your app. won’t be carefully read until the deadline. I noticed something in your post though – you said you submitted your SAT’s (and I am guessing 2 subject tests), but did you also have your AP exam scores sent? The UNC Chapel Hill admissions officer told us they like to see those too. Good luck!

No, but with the senior course load, you are the smartest person out there to have invested your time early on and gotten rid of the arduous task of completing the application. I too would agree with jkiwmom in that I wish I had your motivation lol…

I put my AP scores on the application, but didn’t actually submit them. It was nice to be finished back in September while everyone has been stressing out all day today.
