I'm a high school sophmore looking at Swarthmore to attend college. I want to be an Economics major and went
to their website and saw that they offer Economics. Is their program any good? Why or why not? Also feel free to leave names of other schools that have a good Economics program.

Swarthmore’s economics program is one of the best in the country. I am personally really interested in public policy issues and I appreciate that the course selection really caters to these interests, as opposed to finance. We also have professors who are very dedicated to mentorship and are fantastic teachers, especially Golub, Bronchetti, and Kuperberg. For example, for our intro and intermediate micro and macro courses, we have discussion sections of 15 people run personally by the professor where we apply models in lecture to current events and dissect news articles. I’ve also been in a 5 person intermediate-level class about race, gender and economics. Professors are really approachable and friendly, I have coffee weekly with my advisor where we talk about her grandkids and converse in Chinese. Lastly, the Honors economics seminars are amazing, with a large variety of graduate-level seminars limited to 10 people each, which has historically produced a lot of eminent economists.

I started off here as an engineering major, but I have throughly enjoyed my economics classes here and have changed to be an honors major in economics.

Bro. This topic has been discussed to death here. Do yourself a favor and search.

Only go to Swarthmore Econ if you want PhD and only want liberal arts college vibe. Otherwise, you’ll likely place better in PhD if you go to a top Ivy.
