Does Switching Cali Community Colleges Matter?

I’m attending Cerritos College here in Southern Cali but recently moved closer to Mount San Antonio College, both community.

Does it matter if I switch now? Currently at Cerritos i’ve attended 2 years totaling about 55 units. All towards an Anthropology major. The main reason I’m tempted to begin going to Mount Sac is because it’s now closer to me (3 miles) since I just moved, as opposed to Cerritos which is now 20 miles away.

Currently I’ll be wrapping up the Fall semester at Cerritos is a few weeks and honestly the only reason/s I’m still considering continuing at Cerritos is because I’m part of 2 programs.

EOPS: Gives me early registration and free UC application waiver fees (Though I won’t be applying till next fall to transfer to a UC). But I’m told EOPS is at most CCC so figure I could just transfer into Mount Sac’s EOPS.

SHP, Scholar’s Honors Program: Essentially this is the main reason for me to chill at Cerritos. I hear this program raises transfer rates to any UC up to 92%. At Cerritos 95% of people who completed this SHP got into the UC of their choice. Basically I need to complete 6 honors projects while at Cerritos and i’ve completed the program and I’m set. So far at the end of this semester i’ll have completed 4 projects.

Suggestions? Ears wide open.

Transferring from cc to cc shouldn't affect your chances at all for a uc. If Mount SAC has an honors program like TAP or TAG, where you could tranfer the honors courses you've already taken, then you could transfer to there if it its more convienient. But make sure all your courses transfer, or else you could be at cc longer than expected. It looks like you're almost ready to transfer, so it may be better just to drive a bit and finish up at Cerritos.
