I am taking geometry being a junior. Is it bad?
Did you take Algebra 1 and 2 already?
It’s not bad, per se, but you are behind in math. I took geometry as a freshman, and I know people who took geometry as 8th graders (I even know a couple who took it in 7th grade).
i my school its algebra 1 , geometry, then algebra 2.
Did you fail Algebra I or Geometry?
It’s not a problem at all. It just means that your school groups the two Algebra courses together, then puts geometry at the end… avoiding the “Geometry sandwich” that so many math teachers hate.
You’re not “behind” at all, you’re right on track.
Oops, out of time to edit.
College admissions counselors are familiar with how things are done in your school. They’ll look at your application and know that you’re right where you should be.
And, no, you didn’t take Geometry in 7th grade. Nor did you cure cancer… or even the common cold. But that’s OK. In spite of what you read here, the vast majority of kids who apply for college are exactly ON TRACK, just as you are.
Except that’s not the case here. The track for OP is algebra I, geometry, Algebra II.
How it affects the OP will depend on colleges targeted, his/her schedule vs. other applicants from that school, as well as the “normal” GPA/test scores/EC’s etc. How the math sequence will affect him is something nobody here can definitively answer.
OP, what colleges are you thinking of applying to?
I will take two math classes Senior year.
Math is sequentiql, you can’t - unless tyour r school has block scheduling
they will let me ebcause I dont have to take a science senior year.
becuase
it’s not a matter of permission… it’s just not possible to take precalculus at the same time as Algebra 2. Math is sequential, you need to have learned A before you learn B. Unless you’re talking about AP Statistics?
Well I can take algebra 2 for summer school after my junior year then I can do Pre-Calc and AP statistics
That works indeed. It’ll be hard but if you have an A/A+ in math you can indeed take Algebra2 for summer school after junior year and precalc senior year (with or without statistics - do plan to take stats in college, no matter what major you are, but it’s not necessary in HS).
That is true but I don’t need another science so probably stats or an easy elective
