Does taking AP classes really increase your chances?

Me and my friend are disagreeing on this. From my experience, taking an AP class makes no real difference in your chances of getting into college that's worth the effort. My friend disagrees.

So which is it, really?

i went on Harvard, Yale, and MIT’s tours. they all say they want “acedemic rigor” aka, if u school has APs and u feel okay personally about taking them, u should prolly take APs.

^That. Although I would have use grammatically correct English. :)

Choosing whatever the more rigorous options are for you courses tends to improve your admission chances, assuming you get similar grades.

If your schools does not offer APs, then not any will not put you at a disadvantage.

However if your school offers many AP class and you take none of them, then you’ll be a disadvantage, especially if your school offers many APs(colleges see this via your school report). So yes your friend is right.
