I have to pick my classes for next semester and I'm debating whether to take physics with calc. or physics without calc. Physics with calc. is 3 semesters as opposed to 2 semesters with the other track. Also, I hate physics. HATE physics. and I know without calc. is much easier. But I don't want it to screw up my chances of getting into a good med. school. Also, I have a 4.0, I don't want it to screw that up either. What do I do?

Physics with calc is completely unnecessary. Med schools are not going to be more impressed with one over the other.

wouldn’t it look better if they see you with it when everyone just took physics with out calc? Shows you can go above and beyond and aren’t afraid to push your self a little. But i would love to keep the 4.0, a 4.0 would surly sound a lot better than a 3.9_ just because you took a class with calc.

I gave you both sides, id go for the 4.00, and go with physics w/o calc

One class is not going to convince the adcoms of your ability to “go above and beyond”. Also, you can’t count on your transcript as the thing that sets you apart from other applicants - adcoms just don’t look that closely.

No

No adcom will look that closely, nor will they care.

Why do ANYTHING you don’t have to do that could jeopardize your GPA…don’t forget this good rule to live by as a Pre-med…

;)

I would just like to point out that physics without calculus is not necessarily easier than physics with calculus…oftentimes it depends on the professor. One of my friends took a term of each and did much better in the physics with calculus because the professor actually taught the subject as opposed to the other professor that nobody could understand. If you have the choice ask around to see what students think about the profs teaching each.
