So its already May and I still want to take the SAT one last time to raise it up to 2300+ (even 2350+) before I apply for college. I'm looking at top colleges, and my gpa is pretty decent and my extracurriculars consist of national and state awards and many leadership positions. I was planning to take my 4 APs next week, Math Level 2 and Physics SAT 2 June, then SATs for the last time in October right before EA/ED. Although I heard from some people that taking the SAT October is ok, some other people told me that taking the October SAT in senior year can look bad and hurt me in the application process. Since I'll get scores before ED/EA deadline, will it matter taking them October? If October is not fine, Ill just switch the SAT and SAT 2's, taking the SAT June and SAT 2's October (but I feel like I'll be able to do much better in October because I'll be able to study). Can someone tell me if taking it in October during senior year ok for people applying to top notch Ivy Leagues?

In fact, I haven't seen anyone take the October SAT in senior year and use that score to get into an Ivy League yet. So please convince me otherwise :/

Seriously? It doesn’t matter…if it’s before the EA/ED deadline

It doesn’t matter when you take it. I took an ACT and SAT my senior year.

and I see that you got into princeton…may I ask how many times you took the SAT and ACT too?

You have received misinformation. Taking the October test is fine. The only thing colleges care about is that you take any necessary tests by the time required to complete them. For EA or ED coleges with Nov deadlines, that is October for some and Nov for others. For regular admission, it is Dec or Jan depending on college, although there are a small number that want you to complete tests by November (Cal Polys, UTexas, some other publics)

It’s fine to take SATs anytime. But not too many times if your schools don’t allow score choice.

won’t they think that im lazy because ive delayed standardized testing until the very end?

No. They don’t care as long as it’s before the college deadlines.

I took the SAT in October and got into Cornell (only ivy I applied to). That was the third time I took it and I got my highest score then, 2260 (1520 CR/m), after getting a 1930 then 2000 in march and may. I also took the ACT in september (got a 35). It won’t hurt you unless it’s your fourth or more time taking it.

And FWIW, the CR curve is often very generous in October, if that helps. Math and Writing curves are usually decent, not harsh.
