When Harvard extended its winter break, did this have the effect of reducing the number of times classes meet over a semester? Or did the fall semester start earlier or the spring semester end later to compensate?

Harvard makes up for their long Winter Break by having only 1 week off for Spring break in March (other colleges with a shorter Winter Break have 2 weeks for Spring break), and the last day of exams is May 18 (other colleges that have a shorter Winter Break are out about 2 weeks earlier).

Also, some colleges have a fall break between the opening of school and Thanksgiving, and some schools have longer Thanksgiving breaks.

Classes? Classes! At Harvard, we don’ need no steenkin’ classes.
