Does the first UC prompt have to be about your intended major?

<p>Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations. </p>

<p>I wrote about my passion for art and how i was surrounded by art my whole life and how that influenced me to do art, but my parents hate art and will not pay for college if I do art. </p>

<p>But writing about anything else would be a lie! Is it ok to write about art?</p>

<p>They leave it open-- they say ‘dreams and aspirations’ not specifically major, so it is up to you. If you aren’t going to major in art, though, there is nothing wrong with talking about your major, that is not a lie.</p>
