Does the GPA on the ACT form get sent to Colleges?

The reason I ask this is, my son received his paper scores in the mail today and they have a calculated GPA on the bottom of the form. The GPA is wrong- understated dramatically. In fact it's a lot lower than his unweighted GPA too. I know when he registered he had to fill in the grades for classes they asked about, but as I remember, they did not have enough space for all of them, so I'm thinking that this was the basis for their calculation.

He got a 33 on the ACT and the GPA they have listed is very mismatched, so I would think it would look rather strange to colleges when they receive the scores, if in fact the GPA is shown on the college's copy.

I cannot tell you for sure, but I would think that the school would ignore it because it is not the student’s “official” GPA from the high school.

They would just look at your transcript, I don’t think they would ever trust what it says on the ACT form without looking at the actual official grades first (I know I wouldn’t).

I can’t say for sure whether the college gets the GPA from the ACT form, but I can guarantee that they do not even take a second glance at it; that GPA is self-reported, as far as I can remember.

call and ask ACT
they answer calls.
