Does the in-state tuition apply to me?

Hi guys, I still have one last question before I deciding to attend UCSB.
I’m not sure does the in-state tuition applies to me since I came to CA only two years ago. (I’m a high school senior in Los Angeles) My parents and I are permanent residents in CA. However, my parents do not live in CA now. Thus, does the in-state tuition applies to me?

Where do your parents live? Where do they pay taxes? Who do you live with? etc. etc. You can be a permanent resident of the US but not of a state. If you do not live in the state you are not a resident.

My parents are not living in US now but they are legal residents in CA. However, they did not file taxes to CA yet.

I’m living in CA with my legal guardian but I only spent 2 years in my current high school. (a school in LA)

Are parents away temporarily?

Best to call the school and discuss your situation.
