Just curious: how often do LU students study in groups? Does the honor code allow for that? Another school that we visited actually said its honor code precluded this. I am wondering if I got the full msg since I thought that in college group study might be another good way to learn material.

The LU honor code does not preclude group study. In fact, many profs encourage group study. If for some reason a prof wants to preclude group study on an assignment or a section, she will say so. What the honor code precludes, basically, is unfairly advancing oneself at the expense of other students.

Here is the code:
No Lawrence student will unfairly advance his or her own academic performance or in any way limit or impede the academic pursuits of other students of the Lawrence community.

Group study at Lawrence is common. At Lawrence, students help one another in a variety of ways.
