I am looking at Purdue University, and seemed to notice that the major you choose has a huge affect on your chances of getting in. For instance, if I want engineering of ventinary, with my grade, it would be a long shot. Where if I go into some thing else there not as well known for I would have a better shot. So my question is, if I apply for history would my chances of getting in be better?
I will/have taken: US history, World History, Government Honors, European History AP, Art History AP, Psychology, Sociology, and Contempary Issues. All with A’s and B’s.
Where as my GPA is a lot lower due to poor math grades.
So would applying for History help me out?

I have a bigger question for you. Do you want to major in history or some other related field? Based off of you post, it seems to me that you're not so sure. Yes, it may boost your chances if you have a background in history and apply for that. However, if you apply with the actual major in which you're interested, more passion and consistency may come forth in your essays.

Some say it doesn't, but I believe it does. I mean, the college wouldn't all physics majors, now would they?

Well that depends where I want to go, because it depends on how strong they are in that department. For instance, if I get in at Indiana, I would major in Public Affairs and Economics. Where if I went to Purdue, I would probably major in Economics, with a minor in Math.
