Does the number of W's matter?

I am a student at a California community college majoring in Computer Science. I am looking to transfer possibly this fall or next spring. I currently have 5 W's. Majority of them are in Math classes (retook and passed after) and 2 in GE classes (didn't retake ... took another GE instead). I have NEVER dropped a Major class. I have gotten 1 W every semester and this semester is looking like I might get 1 or 2 more W's.

I am wondering whether W's actually make a difference?

Isn't it better that I have dropped these classes instead of getting D's and F's?

Can anyone in admissions at a university OR a student who is/was in a similar situation; offer me insight?

Major: Computer Science

Overall GPA: 2.8

Major GPA: 4.0

Number of Ws: 5 (and counting)

Ds and Fs: None

Your best source of info is your local transfer adviser. It’s his/her job to link you in with the best possible 4Y programs around based on your level of performance. Good luck.
