Right now, my essay + prompt + title is 698 words. The prompt is 26 words, and the title is 5. This makes the essay itself 667 words. However, if the title counts toward the word count, the essay is a total of 672. Does the title count toward the total word count, and if so, can you get away with no title? I'm having trouble whittling these last words down.

The CA doesn’t give you a place to write a title -> you have to write it in the essay text box -> it counts towards your word count (unfortunately)

Double posting because I’m on my phone and everything is glitchy: most people don’t do titles for their essays, and you’re certainly not expected to.

When I copy and paste it into the text box on the Common App, will it tell me if I am over 650 words?

It should tell you

Also, remember a title isn’t necessary

Yep, it will tell you, in the most irritating red text you will ever read…
