<p>Yes, the UC application does require essays. They are also called personal statements. You are required to write two personal statements on the UC application. The same application is sent to each UC school to which you apply, so each school gets the same personal statements–you can’t personalized the statements for individual schools (i.e. UCLA and Berkeley will receive the same application and personal statements from you).</p>
