Does the UC consider high school grades!?

Since it isn't required to submit high school grades on the application, I assumed the UC wouldn't even see them, but today I saw...

"You will be asked to submit official transcripts from all schools and colleges you have attended, including high school, regardless of your length of attendance or whether you believe the credit is transferable. Some campuses may request transcripts prior to admission."

(University of California - Transcript submissions)

My high school grades are horrible. 2.9-3.0, something like that. My community college grades are 3.91. It's not something I addressed in my app at all, the discrepancy there, since I didn't think it mattered for a junior transfer...Is the high school transcript just something they look at to see you graduated, or is it something they seriously take into consideration?

No, the high school transcript are required to show proof you graduated from high school and that at the same time show you are a California resident

^Yup, my brother who transferred from CC to UCLA had a terrible high school GPA haha

terrible? terrible than mine?
2.2 gpa, barely graduate. :D, half true, 3._ i forgot :(. I really don’t want to go back to my high school.

I had a 1.1 9th grade.
Top that.

i entered community college not knowing universities ignored high school GPA/stats. i had 3.9 GPA without inflation. school only offered AP classes to top 10% of class, and even then only 40 available spots each school year. never too SAT, but got a 200ish on the PSAT - supposedly equivalent to 2000 on today’s SAT. 30 ACT score, don’t know how i got that.

school president, 200 hours community service, tutored english learners and spanish.

i found out high school didn’t matter after my first semester at JC. had i know my parents were going to blow all my college money on their own personal vacations i would have taken community college classes in high school.

in california, community college is basically free for high school students.

so the answer is NO, UC doesn’t care about HS grades. you might as well include academic awards in the appropriate UC app section, doubt they’ll care. i know im not that only one. plenty of high-achievers ended up going to CC, basically starting over from scratch. it is demoralizing.

@Ferrari4XD yes, he had a 1.6 hahaha

a miracle child, i tell ya

Anyonee here applying to USC? Do we have to put HS grades on the common app?

Sent from my HTC Glacier using CC App
