Hi all,
I applied to ASU only 10 days ago, and I got an acceptance letter this afternoon. I just want to know if this sounds legit to you, because it was a very very quick response.
I’m gonna put the first paragraph that the email had.
The email says “You’re In: Welcome!
Welcome to Arizona State University! You’re now on your way to becoming part of the most innovative and forward-thinking university in the nation.
Naturally, there’s a lot of information you need to have so you can start making plans to attend ASU in the fall. We’re going to give it to you in chunks and send you several emails in the coming weeks on various must-know topics. Keep an eye on your inbox for “You’re in” emails.”
And then at the end of the email, it says that there are steps I need to take, like paying the enrollment deposit to confirm my enrollment (by May) and picking meal plans, and housing and such.
It was sent to a mailing list, also.
I only sent in my apps a few days ago and my teacher hasn’t even sent in my recommendation yet (at least one of them hasn’t).
ASU asks you to manually enter grades, which is why I think it was so fast maybe.
My daughter had an answer from a rolling decision school that quickly last cycle. Certainly can be legit. She got the snail mail admission packet about two weeks later.
I don’t know anything about ASU. However, one daughter did get a legitimate acceptance from a different university more quickly than 10 days. This was one that used rolling admissions. It was not where she ended up, but it did take away some stress to have an acceptance from a good university quickly. The paper mail acceptance and the merit based financial aid offer showed up a bit later.
If your stats are way above what is needed to get accepted, and other parts of your application are good, some universities will just accept you right away.
If you think it is not legit or just plain odd, then call the admissions office and ask them. There is NO downside. Either you are in, or you are informing them about a problem – like a solid citizen. According to prepscholar, Arizona State has rolling admissions. The turnaround time can be very quick, as in days for sure. Honestly, I think it is legit so let me end with: Congratulations.
@monte224 the wording sounds like the email my D received. She also received a packet in the mail a few weeks later called a “Sun Devil Starter Kit” with lots of cute stickers, a cardboard megaphone thing, etc. It will definitely show in your portal if you’ve been admitted/accepted. Congrats!
My son was accepted just after halloween. He hasn’t received a letter or email. We just found “congratulations” in his portal. It was quite a let down.
