So I want to attend a summer class for badminton. It is a month long with 10 hours per week. So I want to know if this class counts as an extra curricular activity.
Does it involve awards? If not, it’s just a training camp to prepare you for tournaments.
Yes I know its camp but I want to know if I can put it down on my college app as an EC
Extracurricular activities don’t have to involve awards to be legitimate. Is the camp paid for? If it is, it will be less impressive to admissions officers. However, if it is a camp offered through your school or local community, you should list it, especially if you also compete on your schools badminton team.
Extracurriculars can be any activity that you dedicate your time too. College admissions officers want to see how you spend your time and what you value because it gives them a glimpse into who you are beyond grades and test scores.
Ok thanks. The camp is paid for but it is to increase my skills for the school badminton team so I can reach Varsity next year. Basically I was asking this to see if I could add this to my EC along with my school badminton to show that I really have a passion to play badminton.
My kids put camps down. But if they had an activity that had a lot of stuff (like fencing for one of my kids – they were club members, had some medals, csmps, etc), they had one activity called “Fencing”, then they said “See Additional Information” in the description. Then they had a header for that in Additional Info, and bulleted out the club membership, medals at competitions, camps attended, etc.
