Does this count as a legacy?

My dad did his residency at a hospital associated with Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine. So, does this count as a legacy?

I highly doubt it. Legacies only count those who went to a specific college for their undergraduate program. Even if your dad went to Feinberg, that wouldn’t count.

Why don’t you call or email Northwestern’s admissions office? Don’t you think you would get a more accurate answer from them than random people on this board?

As a general proposition, this is incorrect. Some colleges don’t consider legacy at all. Others give you consideration as a legacy only if your parent or grandparent got an undergraduate degree there. Others may say it’s only if your parent or grandparent is a graduate of the particular school within the university that you’re applying to. Others will count any degree, graduate or undergraduate; but of those that do, some may weigh an undergrad degree more heavily, while others may count all equally. Some don’t even require a degree, but instead ask whether a parent or grandparent attended. A few may cast the net wider in terms of which relatives might make you a legacy. It’s all up to the particular school, and they choose to do things their own way. Cortana431 is right: call the admissions office or search the school’s admissions website.

Well, I know if he had gone to Feinberg for med school it would count for sure because there’s a box for graduate school when they ask about legacies, and Feinberg fits the category.
