<p>I learned Chinese paintings for 6 years. Does this count as anything for the college application? </p>

<p>Yes. It would count as an EC. If you have won any award, you could list it under the awards section. My kid listed reading as an EC. She also wrote a short essay about reading - Prompt: “what would you do if you had free 2 hours.” She wrote about taking a bath and read. It was a funny/thoughtful essay.</p>

<p>I would think it is a hobby if you self taught yourself. However if you took classes then its a EC.
