Does this count as an EC?

So I am confused about what to elaborate on for my ECs. I have narrowed it down to two ECs. I will either elaborate on my being the president of the student government, or I will elaborate on my journal writing everyday. I spend time on both, but I am more personally attached to the latter. The problem is that I am not sure if the latter can actually be considered an EC/hobby? Would it be bad to elaborate on something as simple as writing on a diary/journal about myself? After all it's something I do all alone in my room and there are no awards/honors for it, but at the same time, I learn so much more from it than from anything else I do.

Thanks for your patience and feedback.

I would definitely consider writing your journal daily an EC, especially if writing is an important part of your life. I also think everyone knows what being student body president is about, so you don’t need to elaborate on that a great deal. Besides, your guidence counselor or recommenders are apt to talk about your leadership role (or you can ask them to), whereas no one but you can talk about why journal writing matters to you and what you get out of it - it’s something unique and interesting about you.

Thanks for your reply! I am convinced now that I should go for the latter. Wish me good luck!
