I'm a sophomore, and almost every day after school I work out at a local gym for 1-2 hours on the elliptical and weight machines. It's not for any sport or anything, I just do it to stay healthy and in shape. So I'm wondering if I should include this as one of my extracurriculars whenever I'm writing brag sheets or applications. I spend a lot of time doing it, but it just seems like such a weird thing that I'm not sure if I should mention it...

I don’t know if you can list it as an Extracurricular activity, but you could definitely use it in your essay to show how you are dedicated to whatever you do and how you are committed to maintaining your health. Basically, you can use it to prove a bigger point.

I’m not applying to colleges yet, but for pretty much everything that I’m going to have to apply for they ask for a list of extracurricular or cocurricular activities. And I spend a significant portion of my time at the gym (at least 8 hours a week), and I like doing it more then any sport I’ve tried, so I don’t want to not mention it. But on the other hand, I don’t know anyone else who does this and I’m not sure if it sounds incredibley weird or not. I guess it could make me seem antisocial, but I’m in other clubs and things, so I don’t know.
