Does this count as an extracurricular activity?

Hi,

A couple of my friends and I are getting together to form an ACT/SAT business. It's just for kids that we know that go to our school, and we plan to continue this throughout the year. Does this actually count as an extracurricular activity? Or is there something I need to do to make it "official"? (I'm not looking to create a company or LLC or anything, just something to help out kids in our school/area)

Btw, do I need to report my income or keep records or anything to make it official? Or is this synonymous to a babysitting/lawn mowing job, which doesn't really count as an e.c....?

Thanks in advance, I'm kinda confused :)

Babysitting and lawn-mowing jobs are real ECs, and so is this.
For the most part, it’s unlikely that colleges will ask you to prove your ECs.

Yes, it does. Good luck with it!

As far as keeping records and reporting income, there are no college admissions requirements for those tasks. But, if you make enough money, tax laws require you to report your income. Also, consider making your counselor or recommending teacher aware you are doing this. If they include specific examples of your initiative and commitment outside the classroom in recommendations for you, that can also be helpful.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys! We’ll see how this goes.
