I’m currently in an activist group that aims to protect the financial interests of the 99%. My job in the group is to draft and send out petitions, assist with an amicus legal brief, etc. I spend around 3-4 hours a week with this group, and it really helps my application since it shows that I’m involved in current issues relating to my major. Would this count as an extracurricular? or would this be community service (can I get hours)?
Community Service is a subset of EC’s. For admissions purposes, I’d classify it as an EC. As far as hours, few if any colleges require community service; if your HS requires it, then the hours question should be directed to them.
