<p>This does not make you a legacy. Dartmouth only considers legacy as having a mother or father receive their undergraduate degree from Dartmouth.</p>
<p>Unless the more distant relatives gave a bunch of money, have a builiding named after them, etc.</p>
<p>Although it doesn’t count as legacy, and won’t get the application put in “the legacy pile”–if there is such a thing–I can’t help thinking that such a strong family connection to D would not make them feel a little more warmly towards an application. :)</p>
<p>That said, the majority of actual legacies do not get in.</p>
