Does this count as legacy?

After an extensive discussion with my relatives about our family tree, I discovered that I may be related to Qian Xuesen, one of the founders of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Caltech and "China's father of space technology." If it turns out that I am related to him, will it be considered legacy? (although it'll be a pretty distant relationship)

And will it affect my chances of being admitted? (I'm not going to use the relationship as a desperate attempt to get in though.)

Thanks. :)

Not sure but it won’t help you.

Ok, thanks, I was just wondering. So Caltech no longer considers legacy?

I don’t think Caltech ever considered legacy relations. In any case, at my schools they only care if your parent or rarely grandparent or sibling attended the school not some extremely distant relative.
