Basically, I've had to miss some of my EC time for various reason (colds, college trips, etc.) I'm back on track now and even planning to make up messed time here and there by taking extra classes. My question, does this count as lying on my apps if I put down 2 hrs a week but can sometimes do it only 1 hour per week as a result of unforeseen circumstances? I go the full two hours whenever possible and a lot of time classes go over tey'rescheduled lengths by a bit, too, if that matters.

They don't really check so don't worry about it.

No. anyways, no college is going to deny you admissions for not going an hour on those rare occasions. They don't even have the time to check that you went at all. You're fine! :D

what if i said i was going to do track but dont do it at all?

If you said you were going to do track, that wouldn't be lying. But if you said you DID do track when you really didn't, then that is lying.

They don't care how many hours a week you do on an EC. What colleges care about is what impact you've had on the EC (projects you've initiated, honors you've won) and how the EC has affected your life.

YEAH that is lying if you dont do it

It is very difficult to fill in the hours for the EC's. The hours/week and weeks/year columns are ridiculous. Just make it fair.

"I see that you skipped out on a Horticulture Club meeting, and then said that you went for 8 hours a month. We are sorry, but for this is unacceptable for those of ivy-league standards. You are therefore deferred."

Deferred? More like rejected from every school to which you applied and excommunicated from your family.

Shh!!! We're putting her down easy.

wolf, 1 or 2 hrs a week is splitting hair. Get a life.. Enjoy rest of your senior yr.

how seriously do they take those hour things because i was actually honest on those and now i wish i had embellished at least a little bit. like im president of a club but it really only takes 2 hours of my time per week so i said that, does that look bad?

You should have put more hours they don't check.

come on w1cked.... just because they dont check we lie?

So just cause they dont check all the time, dont buy tikets on the subway... Its all an eventuality... for all u know they check a reandom set of people. If that one is you there is one word to describe it..

I LOVE CALVIN AND HOBBES! MORE THAN MY MOTHER!

Apparently so do most psychologists...

One of the best is when he is writing as test and he answers:

"I cannot answer this question ans it violates my religious principles"

Yea that was a funny one haha

im sorry but its not exactly fair that people who are honest get screwed over because other people decide to add a few hours a week here and there. a few hours a week can add up to over a 100 hours that never happened

maybe so, maybe not

Its integrity that counts. I believe that it matters not what others do. Be truthful and ur safe. Someone who lies will be worried and will be feeling guilty (not to accuse but thats why some of these 'am I lying' threads start)
