Does this count as lying?

So here’s the thing. On my common application I wrote that I came forth in a very very very small international competition. Truth is, there were only four competitors and I just happened to not get first, second or third. Does this count as lying?

for a funny take on this question, you should see the movie Whip It.

It is not a lie. But you should hope that they don’t Goggle for more info.

Well, it’s not incorrect, so it’s not a lie, but yeah, hopefully they don’t take the time to search it up.

Rule #1 of college admissions: if you have to ask if something is considered lying, it’s probably lying.

However, for once, I can tell you that the best way to play up your accomplishments is by saying “Won 4th place in selective international competition.” If you had said, “came in top 4,” that might’ve been pushing it, but as long as you are literally telling the truth, it should be fine.

thank you everyone!

just curious… what international competition has only 4 competitors?

there were only four people in the finals…

If you worked your way to go the finals, I think that’s not considered lying?

I guarantee that they will not care
