Does this email mean anything?

I haven't heard yes or no from NYU yet and I was wondering if this email I got was a hint...

Dear Caitlyn,

I serve as the Director of Undergraduate Studies for my academic department here at NYU's College of Arts and Science, and I understand from the Admissions Office that you may be considering pursuing a major in my field or a related area. I invite you to be in touch with me, as you consider your options over the next few weeks, if you have questions about your academic plans.

NYU is remarkable for its combination of academic rigor and the quality of student life. Undergraduate research and faculty mentoring are two defining characteristics of the college experience here. I hope that you will also come to appreciate both our academic strengths and the strong connection we have as faculty with our students.

You can find links to information about majors, minors, and honors programs in the College at cas.nyu.edu/page/ug.MajorsMinors. More than this, I hope that you won't hesitate to write back to me with any specific questions you may have--I'll be glad to answer you by e-mail or set up a time for us to speak by telephone. Just let me have your contact information and, if you want me to call you, tell me the best time.

Should you have questions about Admissions, you can visit their website at admissions.nyu.edu, or call them at 212-998-4500 and ask to speak to a member of the CAS team. You can reach the Financial Aid Office at 212-998-4444 or via the Admissions website.

Thank you for your interest in NYU. Again, if you have questions or concerns about our academic programs, I would be very glad to hear from you.

Sincerely yours,

I'm no authority... but I'd assume that's a VERY good sign :)

ya i just got that same one today. I've also gotten CAS reception letter and another letter in the mail asking me if I was a National Merit Finalist, for scholarship purposes.

ya it means you're in. they send the departments the list of acceptances before they mail it out sometimes (seems to happen in science majors mostly)

i got one too

um I got one of those letters from Colgate's econ dept chair and I didn't even apply there. They don't really mean much. But that always depends on the school.

Hmm I dunno, I got one from the 'Director of Expository Writing Program' but I applied undeclared. But it didn't say anything about being accepted...and has anyone not recieved one? I'm convincing myself that I'll only hear on April 1st =P Probably healthiest thing to do =P

I got the same thing from except it was from the Honors department or something (email is a home and I forget the specifics). So what is the consensus.... good sign or means nothing?

yea i got that email yesterday along with the cas reception invite and the nmf scholarship letter.

Yes, my son rec'ed the email. I think you have been accepted. You could email the department chair and say you hope this means you were accepted and see what response you receive. But I think NYU is sending them only to accepted students. Just my thoughts.

That's the guy that you will be starting to hate after second week of school, no matter what school, what major you are.

Last year, I got an email very similar to that the day before I got the University Day Reception invitation. And I'm currently at NYU. so yea, I would say that is a very good sign.

That'd be kind of cruel to send these type of things out to rejected students... ;)

i didn't get this...
that sucks... that probably means i got rejected.. and nyu was a match school...

Well I emailed the person asking (He/she did say ask if I have any questions abut NYU =P) So I'll update this thread as soon as I get an answer.

Ok, it's in no way connected to admissions according to Pat =S unfortunately =(
