Hello everyone,

I took the sat twice, the first time in june of 10th grade and scored a 2180 (740cr, 750m, 690w), the second time in january of 11th grade and scored 2220 (700cr, 760m, 760w). Giving the fact that most college applicants take their sats during late junior year/early senior year, does taking them earlier and doing well give you an advantage? Other thing to take note of, english is not my native language (I'm french) and I've started attending a full english speaking school in 8th grade. Also, I've never had a tutor.

Thanks!

It doesn’t matter when you took the SAT, but that is very impressive that you received such high scores with English as your second language! That will impress colleges more than your test dates.

No. It might be noticeable if you took them let’s say, freshman year but it is unlikely that they would pay attention to that. The first time I took by SATs was in October of junior year without any formal prep and scored relatively well (2120 800 CR, 670 M, 650 W) but I asked admissions officers and they say certain colleges automatically superscore it through electronic means, so the dates you took it may not be relevant at all. From a personal perspective, it is great that you got them out of the way early, and your superscore is 2260 so there is no reason to retake it.

You did very well, but colleges are unlikely to put that much weight into when you took it

Thank you very much for your answers! @andyhunt10 @shawnspencer

I agree, it is your choice when you take the SATs and you can take them up until you apply to college or you are satisfied with your scores.
