Does this help my college application?

Does attending a summer program make my application better? I know a lot of people say it’s no better than doing any other summer activity, and the fact that you payed money for the program probably doesn’t help either.

However, I won a scholarship to the summer program (rather than paying thousands to attend), so does that make anything better?

I’m equally interested in just working over the summer and attending this program, so I think I’m going to decide based on what looks better to colleges (as a low income student).

Financial aid is different than a highly competitive program that accepts few applicants. You’d have to provide more info. This program, for all we know, could be anything that takes anybody but has a price and some aid.

i would not try to figure out which would look better for college - attending a program or working can both be good. What do you want to do?

Just attend a program that you have passion in… IMHO
