When applying to college, does your AP Exam score matter? I know it will matter when using it for college credit, however when admission officers are looking through your application, will they consider the score, or will they be more concerned with that you took the class in general?

Thanks!

yea i would like to know this too, and how about self-studied AP exams? do they look at those too, thinking that you’re challenging yourself?

it is primarily regarded as whether or not you receive college credit for the course, and therefore not having to pay for/study it

most colleges only accept 4s and 5s

Right, but when looking over your application, does it factor in at all to admission to the college?

possibly but I’m not sure. It seems as if it would have some weight in the admissions process if you scored well.

It is not factored in during the application process.

so if i am applying to a competitive school, for example, UCLA or UCB, they don’t really care if you get 3’s? it won’t hurt your application right?

You don’t have to report AP scores when you apply (many schools will not accept them until you have been accepted). Though for test-flexible schools they do hold more weight if they are the only scores you submit.
