does this hurt me or help me?

here's the thing: ive been living in the US for about 4 yrs and my family will continue to do so for about 2 more years.

however, i don't have a permanent resident card but im going to apply within a year or so (don't know if ill get it)

so, am i technically considered an "international" student? is this situation going to be bad?

thanks!

So at the moment you're here on a green card?

i think so...

if you apply to college after getting citizenship, you're fine, right now you're international i think.

A green card is a permanent resident card!!

yea. you wouldnt have a green card- tht means you have permanent residence in the US.
which means you must be residing on a work-permit visa. in tht case, you would be considered an international.

Every college wants to admit certain number of internationals, so being in that category can help you. Besides you are already in the US, that is a huge advantage over kids applying from abroad in the international category.
Good luck.

Being international helps you if you do not require financial aid AND if you don't apply to the ivies. Otherwise (especially if you need finaid), you are screwed being an international.
