I just started to look at the Common App, and made this description for one of my activities for the Common App. Does it make sense? Can you tell me if you understood it or not, and if you did, then what you understood from it?

Guatemalan drug cartels terrorize educators. So, working w/ Guatem teachers to develop underground online content making/sharing startup for educators.

Volunteer(Intern?) with an educational nonprofit (NGO) in Guatemala creating online content to help combat (overcome) drug cartel hostility (terrorism) towards educators.

How about something more like this^. Sub in words or use word alternatives in parentheses to more fully reflect what it is exactly that you do. Just a suggestion…

@doschicos The thing is that this organization is not registered, so idk if I can call it a Non-Profit.
I wasn’t an intern, but this is an initiative that was basically managed by myself, a partner in another country, and the teachers.

Well, you can call it an organization, right? and call yourself a volunteer (assuming you weren’t getting paid)?

@doschicos Yeah I’ll call it an organization, thanks! I just don’t want to call myself a volunteer because I am one of the primary leaders of the organization.

And we are looking to have advanced member options for teachers on the platform that would generate revenue, so do you think startup would be a better word?

OK, with that in mind, I agree that you want to get across that you are an instrumental member of the team getting it started. Would one of these options better capture it?

…empower educators targeted by drug cartel hostility (terrorism).

@doschicos Along with that, which was a summer activity, I have two other primary activities. Can anyone tell if these makes sense?

  1. Title: Founder and Executive Director Online education non-profit making unusual content. Adopted in xxx School District afterschool programs, xxx school for orphans in India
  2. Title: Founder and Leader Student group with chapters in 3 high schools that campaigns to collect supplies for poor (insert state abbreviation) schools, and holds workshops there to boost confidence.

@bodangles No I just Iike to plan ahead, so I’m writing it down on a Word Document so that when it’s August, I can just copy and paste everything.
