Does this mean anything? Jacob's School email

Hi everyone,
I received an email from Jacob's School of Engineering, basically saying that "we're glad you applied. As a top applicant to the university, we'd like you to know more about us, etc....".
Does this mean anything in relation to my chances for admission? I was really excited when I got this email cause I remember some people mentioning that they received these types of email before their admission, but now that I think about it... maybe it's just something that everyone gets.
Comments?

Thank you :)

I don't know the answer to that, but for your sake and my sons, I hope it does mean something. He got it too. I think it's certainly a good sign...

This is exactly why I came to visit this forum. I got it too, and I think it's a good omen. I bet it's not for sure, though.

I got that last year on February 7th.

"We're excited that you have applied for Fall 2006 admission to the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego! As a top applicant to the university, we know you'd like to know a little more about our school.

The Jacobs School is a premier research school set apart by our entrepreneurial culture and integrative engineering approach. We are the youngest and fastest rising among the nation's top 15 engineering schools and the largest engineering school in the renowned University of California system.

The Jacobs School provides an education that focuses on engineering fundamentals beginning in the freshman year, and we offer a broad range of opportunities for hands-on engineering experience. Our education extends beyond the classroom to research in our world-class laboratories, active student organizations, team engineering programs, and corporate internship opportunities - all of which develop skills that make our graduates highly competitive in industry and academia.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sending you emails to let you know what's so great about being a student at the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering.

Sincerely,
Engineering Student Services
UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering

Coming next week...find out how our innovative Team Engineering programs allow our students to apply theory to real-world challenges in the community and corporate environments."

I was accepted into Bioengineering with Regent's scholarship, so just a heads-up. If they are doing exactly what they did last year, then you should receive five more emails on Feb. 16th, Feb. 24th, March 2nd, March 9th, and March 17th. You should know your admission status by March 15th. But you'll receive another email from UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering on March 24th that reads something like:

"Let me personally congratulate you on your admission to the University of California, San Diego. I am also pleased to let you know that you have been admitted to your first choice major at the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering.

You and your family are invited to join us for Freshman Admit Day on Saturday, April 8, 2006. This is an excellent opportunity for you to get the information you need to make your acceptance decision. Our faculty will present overviews of our engineering majors, and students, faculty and staff will be on hand to answer all your questions about what makes the UCSD Jacobs School the right choice for you. You will also have the chance to tour our state-of-the art laboratories and visit your future home department.

I hope that you will accept our academic challenge and join us this fall at the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering.

Sincerely,
Frieder Seible
Dean, UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering

P.S. As you probably know, you may always view your admissions status at the UCSD MyApplication website. You will receive an official UCSD admit letter and Jacobs School major decision packet in the mail within the next week."

so email= admit?

so asian = small 8=D?

yeah i got that too...im hoping it means admit

hey big booty willy, did u get email?, sounds like u didn't judging from your atitude

thank you TheRighteous. Do you know anyone who received these emails but was NOT admitted?
(hehe.. sorry, kinda anxious here ^^;; )

Do they sometimes not stop giving those e-mails midway through?

hm, i can't remember if i got it or not but i was accepted. (albeit not the "impacted" engineering majors)

:( i did not get that email. im gonna go cry now

^ I applied to non-impact majors (premed). And I'm pretty sure you may only ge t the email if you applied to majors under the jacob's school of engineering..

I hope I'm not just getting my hopes up for nothing..

ntel: did you look in your spam box?

ntel u apply to jacob's engineering school?

I applied to bioengineering premed and bioengineerng biotechnology (impacted).
I didnt gt the email... I'm so sad :(:(:(

I applied for Electrical Engineering and got the email. I think it pretty much means that you're an admit (It would seem rather odd to send such an email out that praises you for applying there and being a top applicant, but then rejecting you), but I'm not sure.

Yeah I got those too and I applied for mechanical engineering, so I hope it's a good sign!

I heard that people got the e-mail if they have an SAT of 2100+ and a weighted SAT of 4.0.

Does anybody have an idea if this is true?

^ Not sure, but I've been getting those e-mails, and today I got an invite in the mail for the Scholars' Day Engineering Information Session. Came with a cool Jacobs decal, too.
