Does this mean anything?

They continuously send me emails:

Dear XXme

We are so excited that you are considering Columbia for your college experience! We know this can be both a stressful and an exciting time – full of college research, exams, essays and more. We hope to take a moment of your time to tell you a little about Columbia – a place we have both come to call home.
and so on.

...But the thing is, Columbia was never on my college list.........but that name is ...mine. and it's a rare name..

Does this mean anything?

Edit: Probably not, no. You probably just put your email down somewhere and forgot.

either what glibert said, or because you scored well on a standardized test and that’s how they got your info. Prob if you scroll down to the bottom it will say something like “you have indicated that you wish to receive emails from Columbia U.” or “We have gathered your info from the collegeboard…click here to take your email off list”

Colleges can buy lists of names of students who scored high on the SAT so Columbia probably has a list and sends that letter or something similar to every student on that list above a certain cutoff score.

Expect another hundred schools to send you this kind of emails. They buy the list of high SAT scorers from collegeboard and mass-email them.
It’s kind of creepy… I don’t know how exactly the Asian American community of Harvard sourced me out…
