So I just got an email from the University of Delaware today and this is what it said; Dear Joseph, The Admissions Committee has completed our preliminary review of your application for admission. Joseph, we see you as someone whom we would like to consider for an academic scholarship. So, does this mean that I've been accepted if there considering me for academic scholarships?

It sure sounds like you got in. But, if you got that email asking for updates, does it mean that you are NOT invited for the scholarship weekend? Someone posted on another thread that all of the invitation letters to the top 100 kids were sent in the mail already.

My D got the same email today and we all want this to mean that she is accepted, but like all the other schools she has applied to we have seen so many odd things happen that we can’t help but be cautious over this. One would think that they wouldn’t send out an email to a candidate that they aren’t serious about…right?? I guess we will have to see how many other people got this email, hold our breath and wait some more. So hard to be patient!!

DaVinci92: That sounds like something different??

I think the other post you are talking about was scholarships for honor students. My D did not apply for the honors program. I am sure there are scholarships for students not in honors.

Yea, I didn’t apply to honors and got the email, so I’m assuming its for non honors students. Hopefully this means I got in, this would make me 7 for 7 in acceptances =D…not to mention UD is one of my top choices!

I got the same email, and so did my friend. we both applied to the honors college, are qualify, but not overly qualify for honors.

i received this email too! but now im kinda nervous because i havent won any honors/awards since i have sent in my application =\ i hope that’s not a bad thing?

@laura. I don’t think so, or I hope not =/

i got the same email! I applied for honors, but congrats guys, it sounds like good news to me!

Maybe the email is UD’s version of a likely letter?

I think any one who is being considered for a scholarship, must be in the admitted students pool. My son received this email, too.

anyone want to post their stats since we are being considered for academic scholarships?

I was wondering if this means that people who got the email aren’t in the 100 person group invited for the really big scholarship, since those letters are currently in the mail? Does anyone know what the highest amount of merit-aid awarded is, not including scholarships for the top 100?

I got the same email Should I bother responding if I haven’t been considered any awards/scholarships, but then I don’t want to seem uninterested…

I went back and looked at the UDel thread on this site from last year to see if there was any information from last year that might help us understand what this email really means. Interesting, there is nothing there so maybe the way this is being handled this year is different?

Did we get an answer – did the interviewees also get the email?

Not yet. Hope someone can find out. Anyone who got both the invitation letter in the mail and the email, please post!
